The location was great... very close to the old town. Staff friendly and helpful. The best thing, though, was the fact that they could accommodate us with only a couple of hours' notice. ! This is because our original hotel, which had been booked for months, suddenly closed down during the week before our arrival. Booking.com, however, failed to notify us. It was sheer good luck that it was discovered . When I tried ringing Booking.com on their Genius priority number to get some urgent assistance, I was cut-off after being on hold a long time. Subsequent communication with Booking.com has been sub-standard. and unsatisfactory. A lesson has been learnt ... just because you have a booking and it's been made with Booking.com do not assume it will proceed and you will have Booking.com on your side if the unexpected happens.

Superb Location by the old town and at this time of year by the Christmas market. Also very close to the tourist information and the main pedestrian walking Street. Friendly bilingual staff (or probably trilingual.) we were given a Swiss pass with our check-in (which I didn’t expect) which gave you discounts at museums and transportation. For example, the Museum of Fine Arts is normally 16 Swiss francs per person -both of us got in for a total of 8. Property itself is clean and modern with a big TV and a nice firm mattress. Wi-Fi connectivity was fast. I didn’t understand how the Heating worked and someone came up immediately to explain it to me.

A fantastic small boutique hotel on edge of Basel old town. Easy to get to from airport or railway station. Reception staff, as with all the hotel staff, were hugely pleasant and welcoming. The room was faultless, modern, plenty of space, spotlessly clean. Absolutely top grade shower. Buffet breakfast was also top grade and once again the staff were so helpful, particularly the lady with spectacles. We travel extensively and It has been some time since we have stayed anywhere where we could find no fault whatsoever. The Passage is really one such very special hotel. We’d return in an instant!

Wonderful well managed hotel in great location. Soundproof rooms and very good beds guaranteed a good sleep. Air-conditioning quiet and efficient during very hot days. Very clean and great staff, loved it how the hotel manager greeted his customers every morning at breakfast like great chefs do at better restaurants, little hings like this make a big difference. Nice little patio/terrace was great and tastefully furnished. There are also a few apartments, longterm business customers might love those, how beautifully decorated and maintained, like the whole place.

I always stay at this hotel when I go to Basel because they are very special for dealing with people. They do everything to keep you comfortable, and the hotel staff are really good. The bed is very comfortable and super quiet to sleep in, the temperature is always pleasant in the rooms and the shower is wonderful. Additionally, the hotel is super well located, easy to get to SBB Station, and many restaurants around. Rating 10 for this hotel in Basel. and they even have a complete gym, including a sauna. It's really worth staying here.
